Can You Explain How The OTO System Works?

To Whom it May Concern;

I have a few questions about the One Time Offer, they are as follows;

1) Can Anyone tell me how the oto system works?
2) Do I need to create a level for the One Time Offer?
3) How do I make it a OTO?
4) A Silver buys an OTO to Gold. Now, does he have two member areas or does a person include everything that the Silver members area had into the Gold members area. Such as, Download area, bonuses....etc? ......Now, thinking about it, that would be a pain if you had to create another download that had all the upgrades plus what they still had, every time you created a new backend product. I have to be wrong about that one........would not be very automated, that way.
5) But, then what happens to the Silver members area that he had? if it is that way.
6) Or does the script just create one area by just showing the links to the products the script know the customer paid for?

The Manuel doesn't go over this area or the members levels very well, so I just need a little clarifying, that's all...............

I love the script by the way.............

Hi Ron,

Yes, the OTO would be a seperate product so therefore a different level. A member can have more then one level assigned to their profile so they access them all with one login. Whatever product they have will show on their download link when they login. Jason is using it at http://www.bloggerspayback.com

OK, Then what makes this an OTO? How do I set that up? I know there's a tick box to turn the OTO on or off. But. how does that make the OTO page a One Time Offer............and is it really a One Time Offer? If they leave the page does it not show up when they try and come back to it?

I just don't see how ticking the box to turn the OTO one or off will make the OTO page, that a person creates a One Time Offer, bringing it up after the customer signs up.

Can you please explain and/or direct me where I might get the information of the OTO sales system in emp and how it totally works........ So I know how it functions.

Here's how I did it. Don't know the software well enough yet to know if its the correct way but it works for me.

One membership on offer from front page, free or paid - doesn't matter.

They sign up and see the oto (just activate it and then edit the page).

The offer is for a upgrade membership at a reduced rate of (example) $57 instead of $97

If they take it they are gold members and get access to all levels. If they don't, once inside the free/silver area they see the upgrade option at $97 and can upgrade if they wish.

They won't see the oto again BUT if your bottom level is free it works to your advantage to make the oto a real bargain as many will sign up with a new ID just to get at the oto again.

I will try that. So all you have to do is edit the OTO page and just turn it on? How easy is that?
